Talk:French onion soup

[edit] Clean Up
Ok, it's been cleaned up some and untagged. Specific recipes should not be added, that is wikicookbook territory. Superclear 01:02, 15 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Gratinee Lyonnaise
Seeing as most of the other titles are in French, surely this should be mentioned by its French name 'gratinee Lyonnaise'. After all, we dont call a croque monsieur a Mr Crunchy.
[edit] Contradiction/cleanup
I'd like to clean up this article and merge the Saveur information into the main body of the text, but there is a contradiction in the article that needs to be sorted out first. The article claims that french onion soup has been associated with poor people throughout history. On the other hand, it also recounts what is apparently a popular legend that the soup was personally invented by a King of France (with champagne!). So... it's a royal dish for poor people ?
