[edit] a spelling correction

Actually his name was Frederic Mates (without a "K" at the end). Also, his birth certificate had no middle name on it, although he usually used either "S." or "Stuart". So technically his name was Frederic Mates.

Fred Mates died in December, 1982, after many years of failing health.
