[edit] Wronge title

Why is the article titled incorrectly "Frederick I of Prussia"? He was only King in Prussia. Str1977 (smile back) 11:52, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

That's right. Furthermore, I think the following statements are wrong: Frederick crowned himself "King Frederick I in Prussia" on January 18, 1701 in Königsberg. To indicate that Frederick's royalty was limited to Prussia and did not reduce the rights of the Emperor in Frederick's Imperial territories, he had to call himself "King in Prussia", instead of "King of Prussia". He wasn't King of Prussia because only one half of Prussia was in his posession, and the other half was owned by the King of Poland, who styled himself "King of Prussia". Another "King of Prussia" would have caused trouble with the Polish King. I don't think that the Emperor or Empire had anything to do with that. Prussia (i. e. the historical Batlci region Prussia, not what later became called Prussia but is essentially Brandenburg and most of Northern Germany) was never part of the Empire. --89.244.179.76 (talk) 21:53, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
