[edit] Order of Australia

I've just checked the Australian National Honours database [1], and a search for "Schepisi" draws a blank. His website [2] says "Fred was recently awarded the Order of Australia for his service to the Australian film industry as a director, producer and screenwriter". Without a reference point, it's hard to know what "recently" refers to. He certainly wasn't mentioned in the Queen's Birthday Honours List of last weekend. So, I'm wondering about this AO. Does anyone have any facts about it? -- JackofOz 05:06, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

Searching more deeply, his CV on his website says he was made an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2004 [3]. But a search of It’s an Honour still reveals no awards ever made to anyone with the surname Schepisi. I’ll check with the Honours Secretariat at Yarralumla. -- JackofOz 23:50, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

I've just spoken to them, and they tell me he was indeed awarded an AO on Australia Day 2004, and it was published in the newspapers, but he ticked a box on his form that said he did not want his name to appear electronically. Odd, given that he's happy to publish the award on his own website - but I guess that's the capricious artistic mind at work. -- JackofOz 00:06, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
