[edit] Fair Use in FreeSpace 2

Non-free / fair use media rationale for FreeSpace 2
Description

A external camera screenshot of a 36 meters long Medusa bomber (seen only as the 3 white glowing exhaust ports in the center of the image) versus a portion of the 2023 meters long Orion destroyer (the large purplish object). Note that the Orion is only a third as long as the largest ship in the game.

Article

FreeSpace 2

Portion used

This is composed of only one out of the millions of frames rendered by the video game, and hence insignificant.

Low resolution?

No

Purpose of use

This screenshot is to illustrate the scale of the ships, another praised feature of the game FreeSpace 2.

Replaceable?

Interplay has not released any such images into the public domain, and a free replacement image could not be created that would adequately provide the same information

Other information As the game is out-of-production and no longer on sales, the use of this image neither detracts from the game nor inhibits its salability in any way
