[edit] Widow's death

Would someone clarify information found in the 1911 Encyclopedia Britannica (http://88.1911encyclopedia.org/H/HA/HALS_FRANS.htm) from which most of the article is lifted. (... we find his widow seeking outdoor relief from the guardians of the poor, and dying obscurely in a hospital.)

Was she mugged? Or just looking for a social worker? Or was the social worker looking for her? Did she catch pneumonia? Was the illness obscure, or was she just unknown? Had she been living in a "poor house?"

[edit] July 26, 2005 revert

The recent replacement of this article's content contains wonderful information. However, it's not written in an encylopedic style, and may be a copyright violation (the byline is a tipoff). It also wiped most of the images and all the links.

The article on Frans Hals that is now on the Wikipedia contains a lot of mistakes. Apparently it is not based on up to date literature, but (mainly) on an encyclopedia from 1911. But science on Hals did'nt stop in 1911. That's why the article was reverted by me (see above). It's a pity that the new article was removed. It's not a copyright violation at all: I wrote the text myself, and it's mainly based on a book I wrote for the Frans Hals Museum, where I'm working. Find my text under the blue name given here above (See: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index etc. etc. etc.] Antoon Erftemeijer, Haarlem, The Netherlands

Thank you very much for your contribution, Antoon!
Which parts are inaccurate? Let's fix those and integrate the two versions. -->>sparkit|TALK<< 15:14, August 4, 2005 (UTC)
Is anyone already working to integrate the two articles here? Because that's what we have right now: one article imposed on top of another, each dealing in its own way with the subject and yet causing redundancy in presenting Hal's life, work, influence, etc. InvisibleSun 23:40, 6 September 2005 (UTC)
I attempted to merge the two articles into one. Redundant texts were removed. I know little of Frans Hals so a review is required. Also I found some sentences unencyclopedic so I adapted them to make them more NPOV. Again a review is required on this too. Felsir 10:10, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
