[edit] Marriage
From the article: "He [Abbandando] was forced to marry Jennie DeLuca, a hardresser from Ocean Hill, Brooklyn." I couldn't find anything to back that up, does anyone know more about this? Darkmeerkat 18:57, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
I am the third cousin to frank jr. and lawrence abbandando, jennie was my great great aunt, and yes this is true. my mother grew up with this remarkable woman and it was one of the many stories she continued throughout the family although the families lost touch Larry and my grandfather Aniello S. DeLuca were closer than brothers growing up and because of the death of my grandfather in 1980 the ties were broke between families because my grandfather no longer wanted "this life ...or burden of always having to look over your shoulder." to continue through the future of his family, he also halted the learning of our native language just so it would be that much harder to continue this way of life. i do not blame him beacuse in this time he knew their wasn't much time of the mafia in this time frame to stay on top like the "glory days" in the 1960's he knew it was a matter of time before our family would hit rock bottom, especially my grandfather was a bad gambler, so he moved from brooklyn to upstate NY and severed the ties that bind and watched as the "families" fell apart. With the passing of my grandfather as the years have gone bye it feels like our stories have been lost in time and one bye one the older generations are almost completly gone and in this way almost forgotten! honestly, other than close net families, real stories of the mafia and it's families are and were not really told because this was law only what you heard in newspapers was what was known and taken as scripture, of course not all is true or lifes were lost in translation but hopefully we can help piece together the past so our legacies are not lost forever, the Abandando's and the Brooklyn DeLuca's were very important families to many parts of New York and Florida's history but because you only know what was told through the public eye and do not know the "REAL" stories of these families some truths maybe lost forever! but to answer the above question Jennie was my grandfather's aunt and Frank Sr. was his uncle, Frank Sr. was put to death for a murder he did not commit but was told "take the wrap for this and be put to death and your family will be fine, and if you don't you know the answer...." this story has been passed along the generations and was not forgotten and the powers that be backed their word or their wouldn't be Abbandando's or "New York" Deluca's today it is amazing that these are pinacle stories that changed our culture and history and are little known because of the real and true sicilian family! Always remember in sicily never worry about the man who greets you in business, it is the shadows behind YOU that never forgets! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.79.50.22 (talk) 21:42, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
