The Frankfurter Kranz (or Frankfurt Crown Cake) is a cake speciality from Frankfurt am Main. Shaped like a crown in a ring shape, it is filled with buttercream (and also possibly jam or jelly) and topped with caramel-covered brittle nuts, called Krokant.
