[edit] The Beginnings – Francina New Modeling School
In 1982, Francina decided to pass on all of her knowledge about catwalks, advertising and the modeling profession to a new generation of young Spaniards who wanted to prepare themselves for their entry into the fashion world. As a result, on December 16th the Francina New Modeling School was opened, which was the first of its kind in Spain. It taught all of the disciplines that models needed to master in order to develop their professional careers: catwalking, physical expression and interpretation, style, rhythm, makeup, casting techniques, psychology, beauty and dieting, hairdressing, photography, etiquette, and publicity. This ensured that the models would have the necessary training to be able to break into the world of modeling and advertising with ease and confidence.
[edit] The birth of the Francina International Modeling Agency
In 1983, Francina saw the progress of her school’s students, and decided to launch them onto the catwalks and the market by creating her own talent agency, the Francina International Modeling Agency. This is how Spanish models who have been, and still are, famous on both a national and international level were launched into the world of fashion and advertising. With the help of the Francina International Modeling Agency, Spanish models began to be known and recognised throughout the world. Thanks to the Agency and the School, its clients were able to work with professionals who, as well as having a good physical appearance, had also received the training needed to cope professionally in the fashion and advertising industry. This commitment to the country’s models brought her first great success in 1990, when a very young model called Judit Mascó, with the help of Francina, became the first Spanish model to be published on the front cover of the prestigious American magazine Sports Illustrated. This was the first big step towards Spanish models moving onto the international scene, and from then on their numbers and status have increased. In addition to Judit Mascó, models who have emerged from the Francina International Modeling Agency include Tammy, Monica van Campen, Carla Collado, Estel, Mireia Canalda, Mar Saura, Belén, Cristina Guillén and Marta Español. The Agency has also trained and represented male models such as Eduardo Bercero, Erik Fuhrmann and Ferran Calderón, amongst others. As well as her commitment to their training, Francina also represents international models and supermodels such as Fernanda Tavares, Jeisa Chiminazzo, Tiiu Kuik, Cintia Dicker, Barbara Berger, Priscila Uchoa, Kjell, Petra Kvapilova, Elisa Raats, Martha Penz, Maren Stavinoha and Patricia Namayira. Male models Mike Nock, Jason, Leandro Lima, Laszlo, Stefan Forrester, Leandro Souza, Fred Delannoy and Maurits Vermeer deserve special mention.
[edit] The search for new faces – Options by Francina Models Agency
In 1998, upon seeing the needs of the market, and in order to satisfy the constant demand for new faces and national and international commercial models, Francina created the Options by Francina Models Agency. It formed part of the set-up of the Francina International Modeling Agency. Its aim was to discover new talents in the fashion world, and give them the experience needed to become sought-after models, whilst also satisfying the needs of the fashion and advertising markets, which have extended into many new sectors. These models may therefore be wanted for newspaper publications, adverts, media, television, cinema, etc. Furthermore, there has been a change and an increase of late in the demand for modelling profiles, which Options by Francina can fully satisfy. Options by Francina has consequently become the perfect springboard for young promising models to propel themselves onto catwalks and into national and international magazines.
[edit] The school merges with the agency
In 2004, Francina decided to close the School, and fully devote her efforts to the Francina International Modeling Agency and the Options by Francina Models Agency. Nonetheless, her passion for teaching and training future models for the catwalk has meant that the models who join her agency receive training that turns them into more than just pretty faces, as the saying goes, who are able to turn their hand to any profession in the fashion and advertising industries. A good indication of the importance of the Francina International Modeling Agency are its clients, who are involved in advertising campaigns, spreads for magazines, and all other manner of events; the designers and fashion venues that use its models; and the renowned photographers who have worked with the models.
