Talk:Four Pillars of the Green Party

(with its motto Die Grünen: ökologisch, sozial, basisdemokratisch, gewaltfrei [1])
Apparently the last item translates as "free will," yet the fourth pillar is widely understood to be non-violence. This needs some attention from someone who can both read German and is familiar with Green history to explain the apparent evolution. RadicalSubversiv E 04:08, 31 May 2004 (UTC)
Gewaltfrei means nonviolent. (Gewalt means either violence or force) --Erauch 22:08, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)
"The worldwide green parties are committed to the ... Four Pillars": I am seeing the use of committed in this statatemnt and thinking the statement itself is virtually meaningless without immediate reference to a definitive list of parties which have signed up to the commitment. [edit] Against strong association of Deep Ecology and the Pillar of Ecological Wisdom
I am concerned about the strong association of "ecological wisdom" and "deep ecology" - I am certainly not convinced that it is true, either that a majority of members of any major Green Pary would regard themselves as deep ecologists, or that a sufficient theoretical or geneological case can be made. What I do agree with is that deep ecology has made a significant contribution to the philosophy of the green parties, and in particular to the pillar of ecological wisdom, and moreover that they compose an important faction within many green parties. However, I believe they are still most often found to form only a minority. Thus, I make a small amendment to the language of the text.Ringan 20:10, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
