[edit] William Cocke

The anonymous use 141.157.157.100 who created the This page asked about the 'pedia article with this name on my tak page... I'll answer here:

The William Cocke who built this fort was probably a cousin, but not a near relation, to the William Cocke who was later Senator from Tennessee. Many of the Cockes had large families. The Senator was one of 10 or 11 children of Abraham Cocke, and grandson of Stephen Cocke. William was a popular name in the family and several branches had a William in each generation. I'm going to remove the wikilink to Cocke from this article. If we ever get enough on the Indian War William Cocke for an article, we can add it back. Lou I 20:32, 27 September 2005 (UTC)
