Talk:Forester

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I would recommend in last sentence of the first paragraph adding "intrinsic benefits" as one of the "less tangible benefits we (foresters) manage for. This includes things that don't necessarily have an immediate physical benefit to humans. As an example, there are some people in New York City or Chicago, IL that may never see certain parts of Wilderness areas or National Wildlife Refuges in the United States but take great satisfaction in knowing they exist. This is also part of why we make our best efforts to protect endangered species. Not just because of the negative effects of potentially losing one of earth's species might have on the environment, but also "just because" we put an intrinsic value on the preservation of species as well.
