The Ford Sierra Sapphire was a medium size four door saloon based on the Ford Sierra.
It was launched in February 1987, at the same time as the rest of the Sierra hatchback and estate models were facelifted (having been launched in 1982).
Production of the Sierra Sapphire ceased along with the rest of the range on the launch of the Mondeo early in 1993.
From 1988 until 1992, the Cosworth high performance version of the Sierra used the Sapphire saloon bodyshell, having previously used the pre-facelift three-door bodyshell (which was not continued in Europe after the facelift).
