Welcome!
Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia:

  • Please respect others' copyrights; do not copy and paste the contents from webpages directly.
  • Please use a neutral point of view when editing articles; this is possibly the most important Wikipedia policy.
  • If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
  • Do not add unreasonable contents into any articles, such as: copyrighted text, advertisement messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject. Adding such unreasonable information or otherwise editing articles maliciously is considered vandalism, and will result in your account being blocked.

The Wikipedia Tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. [edit] Hamlets in Derbyshire

I'd take care in so clearly identifying ALL the small places in Derbyshire in WP. Some of the WP:AfD merchants will be after them. Bob aka Linuxlad 17:40, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair-use images removed from your user page

Hello, Footballexpert. I've removed some images from your user page, as they are copyrighted images that are being used under claims of fair use. Unfortunately, by Wikipedia policies, no fair-use images can be used on user pages; please see Wikipedia:Removal of fair use images. These images have not been deleted from any articles. If you have any questions, please let me know. —Bkell (talk) 17:30, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair-use images on your user page again

Hello again, Footballexpert. I have removed fair-use images from your user page for a third time. Please read the ninth item of the Wikipedia fair-use policy, which states that images used under a claim of fair use may be used only in articles, never on user pages. For another explanation of this policy, please read Wikipedia:Removal of fair use images#Fair use images on userpages. Please do not restore these images to your user page, as it is a violation of Wikipedia policy. If you have any questions, please let me know. —Bkell (talk) 23:26, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

You probably don't know this, but people in the UK take great pride in their football club, now I am no longer proud of the user box because you have spoilt it - there is no copywright on football club badges! --Footballexpert 11:45, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
I realize you are proud of your football club. However, contrary to your belief, Image:Derby County.png is labeled with the {{logo}} tag, which states, "This is a logo of an organization, item, or event, and is protected by copyright and/or trademark." Unless you have evidence to the contrary, I must assume that this tag is correct and that this image is copyrighted. Consequently, you may not use it on your user page. You are free to express your support for your football club in any way that does not violate the Wikipedia fair-use policy. There are many free football-related images on Wikipedia Commons which you may use, if you find any of them to your liking. —Bkell (talk) 11:52, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
There's even a Derby County F.C. category. —Bkell (talk) 11:55, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
So if I took this up with Derby County and emailed them, the decision could be reversed.
Yes. However, you will need to get permission for the image to be released under a free license, such as the GFDL. Simply getting permission to use the image on your user page, or even getting permission to use the image on Wikipedia, is not sufficient. See Wikipedia:Example requests for permission for some sample letters that request a work to be released under a free license. Please let me know if I can help or if you have any questions.
Now, until such a free license is obtained, you may not use the Derby County logo on your user page, so I have deleted it again. I have also removed Image:ZidaneHeadbutt.gif and replaced it with a link, since it too is a copyrighted image that is being used under a claim of fair use. By Wikipedia policy, you may not use fair-use images on your user page. This is not a negotiable point. —Bkell (talk) 23:29, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Help fight systematic bias

Dear Footballexpert,

I would like to draw your attention to the discussion currently ongoing at Talk:Popsicle. If you are interested in helping to counter systematic bias towards North America, and instead establish Wikipedia as an international website, then please feel welcome to contribute with your opinions. Thank you. EuroSong talk 19:37, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Dowd Coat of Arms.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Dowd Coat of Arms.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Pagrashtak 23:03, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Changes

I removed your edit to Rlevse's userpage. Its usually considered a bad thing to edit other user's userpages. -- Syrthiss 17:08, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Please don't add copyrighted text to Wikipedia

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We appreciate your creation of the article, Hernandulcin, but we cannot accept copyrighted text borrowed from other web sites or printed material. Please see Wikipedia:Copyright problems for more information on this topic, or generally, Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines. Please do not remove the copyright violation notice placed in the article or repost the suspected infringing text. However, if you would like to rewrite the article in your own words, follow the link in the posted notice to create a temporary subpage. If your new article is appropriate, and not a further copyright violation, the reviewing administrator will move that new article into place once the copyright status of the original has been resolved. Happy editing! Syrthiss 23:08, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
