A Flexi Time Sheet is a very particular kind of time sheet, and fundamentally different in purpose and application from a normal time sheet.
A time sheet is used to record the hours a person works, often with information relating to what kind of work (e.g. which project or task) is being done. Once this information is gathered it is frequently used for commercial purposes: to prepare payroll information for the person (how much they will be paid, based on the hours they have worked); for invoice preparation in the allocation of time costs to projects that are charged to a customer.
A flexi time sheet is not normally or necessarily used to calculate payroll or costs. It is the practical implementation of a flexi time policy that embodies an agreement between an employer and an employee. This agreement (which may or may not be in writing) usually involves the employee working for a fixed wage which paid for an agreed number of hours (contract hours). With the agreement of the employer, the employee varies the time at which they start and finish work, according to the flexi time policy. The employee records the hours and keeps a running balance of hours worked more or less than the contract hours (this is the flexi balance).
The special time sheet that provides this calculation and record is a flexi time sheet. It includes information about contract hours, any special rules implied in the flexi time policy, and the actual hours worked.[1] It allows calculation of the running flexi balance for the individual, which can be either credit or debit.

[edit] Software
These may take the form of a simple spreadsheet, an online (web-based) calculation service, or sophisticated computer software (for larger organisations). While many employers still use paper records and manual calculation of working time and flexi balance, an increasing number are using electronic (computer-based) solutions.
