Flat or leavened breads made from wheat contain a protein called gliadin which is not digested by humans and can, in those whose genes still contain HLA-DQ8 and DQ2, cause an immune response characterized by many disorders, among them, celiac disease, one of the symptoms of which is irritability.

Flatbreads may be compared to pancakes, however they are chiefly different in that pancakes are made of batter.


It seems to me that they are not similar in any way except flatness, and that is not enough to link them in the mind.

This article, Flatbread does not have much content to merge with. Perhaps all of these bread types should be merged into this article. Until then, here's a link to the history of the article to be merged [1]. — CharlotteWebb 19:08, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

Well, they merged it, but they didn't do a very good job, since all of the information was lost. I've put it back, although it does look out of place; probably most other articles should be merged here too (as you suggest, Charlotte), or else none of them. —Toby Bartels 16:11, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

Flatbread was already known in Ancient Egypt and Sumer? Means nothing. Already known at what point? A when is required here, adds up to nothing without it.
