The flag of the Republic of Jamtland as first designed by Bo Oscarsson and Kent Backman. The author of this image is Antonio Martins but the copyrights on the same are property of its original designers. Mr. Oscarsson himself gave us permission to use it (following a request of ours) as e-mail dating October the 23rd 2006 notifies:

The generic symbolism for the flag's colours is the following: blue for the mountanins, white for the almost ever-present snow and green for the forests. Other interpretations defend the position of blue for Jamtland, white for Harjeadalen and green for Ravund; the three territorial and historical units that assemble the Republic of Jamtland. The seal in the center of the flag is a representation of an original honorific seal given to the Jamtland people by the King of Norway around 13th century.
