Flag used on many different occasions throughout the history of Montenegro even in the present days, recognized flag of the people that had been used until the one sanctioned by the 1905 Constitution. Massively used by Montenegrins since the 1880s. The Slavic tricolours versions proposed by Prince Danilo (based on the French Revolution flag). Colours were finally stabilized as being similar to Serbian tricolour in 1860s. The flag was temporarily used by institutions of the Republic of Montenegro after multi-parliamentarianism in 1991, until the return in 1993. of constitutionally sanctioned flag from the 1905 Constitution.
