Flask (band)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Flask were an English musical group from Hexham in Northumberland. The six-piece band was formed from pupils at Queen Elizabeth High School in the town in 1995 and remained in existence until 2000, when the group finally disbanded.

Never fully professional, the group found fame across Northumberland initially as a cover band, performing hits from across the music range from bands including The Beatles and Oasis. They then turned their attention to their own music, composing songs including, Tumbleweed, Waiting for the Wife, If I Know You (I Know You Couldn't Care), Belief, Julia and Butterfly. Their one album (also named Tumbleweed) sold thousands of copies locally but was never registered due to being self-published.

At their height, the group appeared on the 'Unsigned and Unplugged' slot on Radio Newcastle and were close to signing record deals with a number of top labels. Unfortunately, their delay in reaching a decision on which label to sign for ultimately cost them - the agents lost interest and the offers dried up. The group have not performed together since 2000, but they remain famous in the pubs and clubs across the region where they once regularly performed.
