Flanders in Action

Flanders in Action (Dutch: Vlaanderen in Actie - ViA)is a social and economic action programme for Flanders which was established by the Flemish government on 11 July 2006. Baron Paul Buysse, is chairman of the board of directors. A socio-economic forum was established to monitor the progress of the programme, which is chaired by Mimi Lamote.

The Flanders in Action program is based on the various challenges Flanders is facing. To deal with these challenges, several projects have been initated. Those projects can be clustered in two groups (I-IV) and (V-VI) of which Challenge V and VI are spread out transversally across the other four:

  • Challenge I: All the stops out for every talent
  • Challenge II: Creativity, the culture of innovation, entrepreneurial spirit
  • Challenge III: Flanders as the gateway to Europe
  • Challenge IV: The government in action
  • Challenge V: More internationalisation
  • Challenge VI: Using sustainability as an opportunity
