[edit] Summary

Description

A North American FJ-1 Fury fighter in flight in about 1947. The FJ-1 was the U.S. Navy's first operational jet fighter but only 30 were built, as other types proved to be more promising. The USAF's swept-wing F-86 Sabre fighter was developed from the FJ-1. This again led to the navalized F-86, the FJ-2/-3/-4 series.
