[edit] General Discussion

Hey, my parents were great, they taught me to read and write at 3/4 y.o. and the allowed me to read anything and everything, they loved me and always treated me with both sweetness and respect, yet were never over-protective. I had the oportunity of practicing different artistic disciplines, of studying science for years, just because I loved it, and of learning about different religions, so I could know and choose. And most importat, I am an ONLY CHILD, no brothers or sisters to compete with, no need to struggle for attention. I am a Thinker (or whatever you want to name it) because I THINK, I REFLECT, I MEDITATE on things, I simply LIKE to look at things in perspective, and also do it naturally -and easily-. How could an attitude like that derive exclusively from traumatic experiences? That simply makes no sense. Diana C.

Investigators often have histories of grossly inadequate, cold, or neglectful early parenting. These traumatic experiences may have created an expectation that relationships would not be gratifying, precipitating a subsequent defensive withdrawal from others (Gunderson & Philips, pg. 1445).

-- From what I can recall, my parents were fine. My problems were with the universe (as parent). ^^&$&*^$ Universe!! 24.22.227.53 01:55, 17 November 2005 (UTC)

-- I think the parenting is supposed to be "ambivalent relationship with both parents". Basically "you don't ask anything of me, and I won't ask anything of you". In my case my parents were perfectly adequate, but not effusive or emotional. Scribelrus 12:43, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

went through and tightened a few sentences, capitilized a few letters etc etc. a well thought out article although it reads like a psychology manual. someone might want to check the books cited to make sure its not just a copy job. I went ahead and removed the wikify tag though since the article seems done to me.Syzergy 06:44, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

Under the section dealing with Type 5 wings, shouldn't somebody flesh that out a little more? It's really barren, particularly for 5w6. Sporks.Are.Loverly 16:42, 15 October 2006 (UTC)Sporks.Are.Loverly

"Avoid looking foolish"... "learn to withdraw"... "becoming a reclusive hermit"... all in the first few lines! We Fives sound like an awfully neurotic bunch! Jeez. I note also that, below, the Healthy Five section is blank (only average and under-par sections are there). The great thing about Riso's work is that he gives at least equal time to the healthy examples of each type. -- Alan2012 02:08, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

Pretty good, balanced picture of the five: http://www.enneagramspectrum.com/styles/style5.htm -- Alan2012 03:12, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Possible Examples Section

I have deleted the 'Possible examples' because, as far as an encyclopedia article is concerned, they can only be considered subjectively speculative examples and not objectively established ones. If anyone has any arguments against this edit please discuss first. Thanks. Ontologicos 10:35, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
