Five Eight (band)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Five-Eight is a rock band from the Athens/Atlanta Georgia area. The group originally came together as The Reasonable Men in Binghamton, New York in the late 1980s. At the time Athens, Georgia had a positive buzz as a music mecca, so the group relocated there (Binghamton is a small industrial town with no real music scene). The core configuration, featuring Mike Mantione on vocals/guitar, Dan Horowitz on bass, and Mike Rizzi on Drums was in place by the mid-1990s. The group's name stems from the original members each being 5 feet 8 inches tall.
Five-Eight is known for their energetic live shows, but has recorded six Compact Discs since 1992. They have toured with REM (fall 2004) and have performed with Cheap Trick and Seven Mary Three. The band is on hiatus as of October, 2007 as Mike Rizzi is in Los Angeles.
