User:Fishal/Etymology

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The word Fishal comes out of my time in college at Concordia University, River Forest (now Concordia University Chicago), which was when I first started editing Wikipedia. I was part of a drama ministry team called Fish out of Water. We traveled to various churches and youth gatherings putting on skits and running devotional sessions and generally trying to witness about Jesus to people of various ages. One of Fish's traditions (since discontinued, sadly) was that everyone picked a "Fish name" for themselves, usually a pun on the word fish or a kind of fish. Since my name is Ben, another Fish member suggested "Benefishal," a pun on my name and the words fish and beneficial. Fishal is, then, a clipped form of Benefishal.
