Torrindale was a British pop group formed in 1993. They were part of the Britpop movement and occasionally supported The Boo Radleys on tour. Band members Richard Turner (guitars/drums), Michael Davids (backing vocals), Will Arnett (songwriter/xylophonist) and lead vocalist Kerry Yate wanted the name to sum up an atypical, dull British city lost in its own unnoticed sense of importance. Their debut album Nothing Will Keep earned plaudits from many contemporary music critics, with the NME's Nick Kent calling it 'a life-affirming mesh of superbly insightful lyricism and soul-dredging Californian-style guitars and xylophones'. They had five songs in the Top Ten Chart from 1993 to 1994 and then disappeared. They were heavily influenced by the music of Steve Albini and the comedy of Ken Dodd.

In a Melody Maker article of 1996, Richard Turner revealed he was 'upset with the excessive commercialism of the music industry' and that the band felt it was the time for them to go their separate ways. Turner now works for Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO. Davids died of murder in 2000. Arnett went on to write for Sharlene Spiteri. Yate chose the quiet life and now works in a care home somewhere outside of Toxteth. Nearer the present, rumours have recently circulated on the band's unofficial website that they are to reform. A new album is being composed supposedly entitled "Everybody Loves Torrindale" and they will begin an eastern European tour in spring of 2006. A specially made compilation of their best-remembered music videos is also being planned for release, with the working title 'Hey, What A Bleedin' Swizz!' Also, their music has been used on an advert for the new Post Office Trials.
