The idea of First Advent in the theology of the Unification Church is closely linked to its doctrine of the Three Blessings; see Principle of Creation. God intended Adam to be a perfect man of mature, parental heart, voluntarily refraining from any action that would hurt the heart of another being; see sinlessness. Because of the Fall of Man, Adam failed his responsibility to achieve perfection, so God had to send (or appoint) a "second Adam" to be the Messiah.
The Messiah who appeared 2,000 year ago, Jesus Christ,
The [[Advent) of Jesus Christ 2,000 years ago did not result in the establishment of the Kingdom of Heaven on earth, according to Rev. Moon's teachings. Thus God had to find another man to fulfill (or complete) the messianic role at the Second Advent.
