A Firearms Enquiries Officer is a civillian member of every Police Force in the United Kingdom. The FEO is usually part of an equiry team or in smaller stations they could work on their own. They are full time member of staff who is employed by the specific Police Force that he or she works for and they are based at the areas Police station. They work closely with Authorised Firearms Officers and Specialist Firearms Officers as all their jobs are of the same subject and for a good team they often have to work together.

The job role entails taking responsibility for the investigation issues which are related to Firearms, to make sure they are in compliance with the United Kingdom gun laws. The most commonly licensed firearms that FEO's licence is the "Side-By-Side" or "Over-And-Under" Shotguns, as they are nearly the only firearm available legally under the Firearms Acts. FEO's also check personal details of firearms liscene applications to make sure the person has no previous record with firearms related crimes or a history of mental instability, they do exactly the same when they renew them as the licence runs out after a period of time that's when you are reassesed. They also visit homes of known firearm owners to assess the security the firearms are kept in, if this is not up to standard the license would be put in jepordy. They also do the same thing to shooting clubs to make sure the running of the club is in compliance with the law of the Firearms Acts 1969 - 1997.
