Fire Prevention Division
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Fire Prevention Division is a group of firefighters who conduct building inspections to make sure they are compliant with the Fire Code, as well as go into schools and Daycare Centers to make presentations about Arson, Malicious False Alarms, and Fire Safety. Fire Prevention Officers also conduct tours of their Fire House for visitors. They will explain what each piece of apparatus does, and depending on how things go, one or two of the Fire Prevention Officers will don their bunker gear to show what a firefighter wears into a fire.
The rank structure is fairly simple. A Chief Fire Prevention Officer, and below him are Fire Prevention Officers. Those in the Fire Prevention Division have their own insignia, such as epaulets with two thin bars that read FIRE PREVENTION OFFICER below them, and collar pins. Depending on the budget, the Division will have its own vehicle, and firefighters will have proper crescents on their helmets. Image:S3000400.jpg
