It might be useful to mention an erratum in the original source (page 247 of Symmetry and the Monster: One of the Great Quests of Mathematics, by Mark Ronan. Oxford University Press, 2006. ISBN 0192807226) of this image. The O'Nan group contains M₁₁ as a maximal subgroup (indeed, two different conjugacy classes of maximal subgroups). This diagram only indicates subgroup containments, not subquotient involvements. JackSchmidt (talk) 01:30, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
