Finger of God

Finger of God can mean any of the following:

• "Finger of God" in the Bible (Exodus 8:19, 31:18, Deuteronomy 9:10, Luke 11:20)
• Fingers of God, an effect in observational cosmology that causes clusters of galaxies to be elongated in redshift space, with an axis of elongation pointed toward the observer
• Finger of God Military nickname for infra-red beam that can only be detected by those wearing special night-vision goggles
• The Finger of God or God's Birdie is a feature of the Keyhole Nebula that happens to resemble a rude hand gesture.
• A popular phrase for severe tornados whose damage can be likened to God dragging his finger across the earth.
• The flight path of the Multiple independently targetable reentry vehicle launched from a Trident missile after reentry into the atmosphere post-launch are also sometimes referred to as the Fingers of God wreaking havoc on the world.
