Talk:Filtrona
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I am very new to Wikipedia, and have today found that my new entry is on the deletion list.
Can anyone tell me how I can improve the text so that it can stay on the site?
Thanks

- Welcome to Wikipedia, then. It's not about the text itself, it's about the company. You should demonstrate that it meets the criteria set in WP:CORP. --Nehwyn 15:24, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you for your help. I have referenced the company via the use of a link to the FSTE 250. How do I ensure that this is enough to comply with Wiki and if so how do I take off the deletion list? --APR69 10:13, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

- I've removed the prod tag and added cleanup tags instead - this article needs a lot of work to bring it up to encyclopedia standard. --Casper2k3 11:06, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

- A FSTE250 reference is enough to avoid deletion, as you have seen. Still, Casper2k3 is right in saying that this article is below standards, and still reads like an advert, not an encyclopaedia entry. A list of product is probably not appropriate, while the history of the company (given the "since 1911" claim) would be appreciated. --Nehwyn 12:59, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

I have drastically cut down this article to improve its quality and remove the advert tag. It read just like an advert. If you wish to reintroduce some of the removed material, please ensure it is encyclopaedic and does not read like a promotional brochure. Thanks. Akihabara 04:23, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
I have added a notability tag since this company is part of a FTSE-250 company; it is not a FTSE-250 company itself. Please indicate notability for this company, or it may be nominated for deletion again in the future. Akihabara 04:35, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Move
The company (Payne Security) in this article does not seem to be notable: No secondary sources have been given, and none added since more than half a year. However, the parent company, Filtrona PLC, is probably notable since it is listed in the FTSE 250. I will therefore convert this article to one about the parent company, which will include the current content. Sorted as part of the Notability wikiproject. --B.
