Talk:Field crumpets

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If anyone has any questions about Field Crumpets (i.e. How to play, where to play, etc.), I'd be happy to answer them. Sombraala 17:37, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

Am I the only person that see's this article full of POV statements and that it's completely unencyclopedic? Some points in the article are just plain embarassing to read. Specifically, the Locations segment. Why not just have a "list of locations it's played at"? It just reads like a poorly written manual. Floydzamarripa 01:26, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

The locations is talking more of the expansion of the game not just the exact locations that the game is played. A list wouldn't be able to convey the expansion. I don't think there is that many POV statements, can you point them out? I can read them over and try to get rid of the point of view. Oh and why not help edit the article instead of just saying its unencyclopedic. It doesn't help the article to just talk about it in the discussion. --eventine 13:03, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

The purpose of the Locations section is to describe not only the particular places that the game is played but also to describe the history behind how it arrived at those locations. If this should be split up between a History section and Locations section then that is something that I would be glad to help with. As for any other part of the article that you may have issue with, I'd be happy to make adjustments. I do apologize for any issues that I had written into the original version of the article, but I didn't and still don't have very much experience with Wikipedia. Sombraala 04:20, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

I have attempted to make the tone more neutral and encyclopedic, so if you are a previous writer, please check it over. (I was trying to make it read less like "Field Crumpets is great and fun" and a little more like "This is what Field Crumpets is".) --Letter in a Bottle 00:11, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

I removed the following from the article because it didn't make much sense to me and does not fit the rules for any of the variants (including the official rules) that I know of. If you happened to have some clarification for this, please reinsert with a little bit more detail.

A team short on players may have a goalie intermittently declare "Commando" and at other times play as a goalie. When declaring "Commando" the goalie must call out "Commando!" to the field, and may only pick up his bat outside the goalie box. To return to goalie status, he must drop his bat before re-entering the goalie box.
