It's not a matter of number of appearances so much as notability, really. Bananas have only been mentioned twice in the new series, both times by Steven Moffat - one might argue that it's Moffat who seems to have that obsession. Yes, but that banana wasn't because the Sixth Doctor was particularly fond of bananas (he doesn't say he is, and it doesn't appear in other Sixth Doctor stories either), but was part of an on-screen gag (the Second Doctor tells Dastari that if you gave monkeys power, they'd fill the world with bananas, and when the Sixth Doctor gives the banana to Peri, she eats it). --khaosworks (talk • contribs) 14:33, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
