The Archbishop Don Fernando Valdés Salas (Salas, Asturias, 1483 - Madrid, 1568) was minister and General Inquisitor under Philip II of Spain. He lived during the 16th and 17th centuries. The University of Oviedo was funded by the terms of his will of Archbishop.
