Fereydoun Farrokhzad

Fereydoun Farrokhzad, (Persian: فریدون فرخزاد , d. 9 August 1992) was an Iranian singer and opposition figure.[1]

Fereydoun Farrokhzad was a poet and singer. He was stabbed to death and was beheaded with a knife on 9th August 1992, at his home in Bonn, Germany, and was found three days later. He was living in exile since the Islamic Revolution in Iran. The murder has been treated as a work of the Iranian government, because of his anti-Islamic Republic remarks on his shows, which insulted mainly Khomeini and other leaders of the Islamic Republic.

He was a great entertainer and trained many Persian singers currently living in Los Angeles. He was known by his supporters to be an educated patriot who spoke out against the Islamic Republic. Farrokzad was always present during many demonstrations and always spoke out loud and clear against the Islamic Republic.

  • His sister Forough Farrokhzad was a famous Persian poet who was killed in a car accident many years before the Islamic revolution.
  • Before the Islamic Revolution he had a very popular live show on Iranian TV called Mikhak-e Noghrei which was widely seen by the Iranian people.
  • He married twice, once to a German woman and second time to an Iranian. He has a son named Rostam.
  • His father worked in the army and was a strike man.
