I'd really like to see this category broken down into subcategories for feminist writers/theorists/activists and feminist celebrities. There is a HUGE difference between being Simone de Beauvoir or Elizabeth Cady Stanton and basically creating and/or theorizing a movement (as your life's work), or being Tyne Daly or Ashley Judd, who are celebrities known for their support of feminist causes. And I think it downplays the contributions of both the theorist/activists AND of ordinary non-celebrity women who support feminist causes to include women like Tori Amos and Janeane Garofalo in this list. Nobody would put random celebrities who believe in evolution on a list of evolutionary theorists, for instance.

[edit] Women

Why are they all women? I'm sure that there are men that one would consider "Feminists." You don't have to be a woman to be a feminist, however, there may not be any men who are famous for their feminism.
