Oh right, ’tis I.
I mostly edit and create articles about music and language, since that’s what I know most about.
I don’t really know that many languages, I mostly know about languages (that’s how linguists roll). Since I know four Germanic languages more or less well (Swedish, English, Danish and Norwegian), I have a quite good passive understanding of German, but I wouldn't be able to utter even a basic sentence in it. It’s the same with Icelandic, though it’s a bit more opaque for me.
Furthermore, I have studied French, Latin and Spanish. This gives me a similar passive understanding of many Romance languages that I have never studied formally: Portuguese, Catalan, Italian, maybe even some Romanian (I haven’t really checked that one out). Of course, it also helps me to understand some difficult English words.
However, I also have a deep urge to learn a non-European language – but which one? For a while I’ve been thinking of Korean, I just need stronger motivation …
Currently, I study cognitive science (yay) as a part of a program in computational linguistics at the University of Lund in Sweden. CompLing kinda blows, so right now I hope that there will be a master’s course in linguistics in 2008, or maybe CogSci, who knows what I will be interested in.
