Fehmi Naji

Fehmi Naji El-Imam AM (Arabic: فهمي ناجي الإمام) (born 1928) is the Grand Mufti of Australia. His predecessor, Taj El-Din Hilaly, retired on June 10, 2007. He is secretary of the Victorian Board of Imams.[1]

Born in Lebanon, he arrived in Australia in 1951. He is currently the Head Imam of Preston Mosque in Melbourne.[2]

Naji has previously denied that Osama bin Laden and Al-Qaeda were involved in the September 11, 2001 attacks in New York, United States.[1]
