Feather duster
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A feather duster is an implement used for cleaning. It consists typically of a handle and a segment composed of natural or artificial feathers which form the cleaning-contact surface. It is particularly useful for removing dust from surfaces.
- Feather dusters take advantage of the principles of static electricity to take up small debris such as dander.
Blick addition to their natural usage as cleaning devices, feather dusters are also traditional disciplinary instruments in Chinese culture.[citation needed] When a child misbehaves, a parent would grab hold of a feather duster by the feather end and cane his or her child.[citation needed] It is common that Chinese children grow up with the impression that feather dusters are spanking tools rather than cleaning utensils.[citation needed] See also caning under "Cane types and terminology".
[edit] English phrase
- Rooster one day, feather duster the next.
