Chemical Zombie: A reanimated corpse caused by a disease, virus, etc. This includes the examples from (and is not limited to): Night of the Living Dead, Dead Rising, and the Resident Evil T-Virus.
Abilities: Minimal brain activity, only able to perform extremely primative tasks (walking, eating, etc)
Frequently killed by: Damage to the brain.
Magical Zombie: A reanimated corpse caused by magic from a magic-user such as witches or wizards. This includes the examples from (and is not limited to): Army of Darkness, some cases of Mummies, and transformable skeletons (able to reassemble into different creature).
Abilities: Depends on the amount of magic used on the corpse. Ranges from the classic "shambler" to performing every act it did in life.
Frequently killed by: Severe damage to the body and head area.
Religous Zombie: A reanimated corpse through an act of a god/ess. This includes the examples from (and is not limited to): Vampires, Dungeons & Dragons undead, and Ghosts.
Abilities: Depends on mood of the god/ess. Too many variables currently to give an accurate answer.
Frequently killed by: A relic of the opposite god/ess. (using holy cross on a vampire)
Alien Zombie: A host that has been commandeered by an alien, has died somehow (the body, not the alien), and is still in control of the alien. This includes the examples from (and is not limited to): Resident Evil 4, Halo, and Half-Life.
Abilities: Depends on the alien.
Frequently killed by: Severe damage to the alien or host body.
In Resident Evil 4, Las Plagas takes control of a body (part 1, complete). While in control, the body can withstand more damage than the average human, meaning that the Plagas has full control over the dead body (thus confirming it as Alien). To further prove this: At night, when the head has been removed from a body controlled by Plagas, the body will still function. In the day (the bane of exposed Plagas), when the head is removed and the body functions for a small while afterward, it has been deemed as a case of a "chicken with his head sut off". Which is possible in humans as well.
Voodoo Zombie: Already covered by this wiki.
