Why was this flagged?

        - ....thats a good question..... --Cybersavior 03:15, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

This article has been edited in a POV fashion. The first paragraph especially needs neutralization. JohnJohn 02:23, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Weasel Words!

I feel that the following words have violated the nutrality of this article. (Weasel words)

"Also, Schlosser retells the disastrous steps of meat processing, and reveals the shocking truths

about the typical beef and chicken patty, which are believed to be based on cattle and poultry who eat things such as manure, dead cats and dogs, and themselves."

These words do not reveal anything, insted they intend to curb the reader's view on the matter. "Disastrous" or "shocking" to whom? "Belived" by whom? "Retells" from whom?

-- First attempt at a Wiki-discussion on the topic. Tell me if this post has some merit!

[edit] "See also" section

I'm tossing in a link to Jennifer Government, as I couldn't help but notice how very similar this is to the past of that fiction book. But then again, that was intentional, I guess. 83.249.236.210 06:43, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Miscellanea

It is a single sentence that appears to contribute absolutely nothing to the article. I've deleted it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.167.225.186 (talk) 09:17, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Criticisms?

A particularly weak criticism. Can the naysayers provide nothing with more bite?

Why was the criticisms section removed? —Preceding unsigned comment added by RigelOrionis (talkcontribs) 15:12, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject class rating

This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as start, and the rating on other projects was brought up to start class. BetacommandBot 13:36, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Expansion of this article

I have added in a considerable amount of information from the book - information that is based on factual research carried out by Eric Schlosser who is an investigative journalist. Areas I have focused on include:

  • why the fast food chains have become so prevalent;
  • US slaughterhouse operations run by huge agribusinesses like ConAgra, IBP and Monfort and their treatment of the animals and mainly immigrant workers;
  • the deliberate targeting of young children by fast food and soft drinks businesses in order to increase sales revenue from their products;
  • the link between the expansion of fast food restaurants and an increase of obesity in industrialized nations, focusing particularly on the US, UK and Japan;
  • implementing improvements to the American food chain. Ivankinsman (talk) 17:58, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] POV

I have rather crudely and quickly removed the worst of the POV in the article. Would someone else mind looking at it? It reads lika a plot summary, not an encyclopedia article.--NeoNerd 03:16, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Fast food nation.jpg

Image:Fast food nation.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Demanding "specific explanation" as to why this image is presented under the aegis of fair use in an enclyclopedic article seems an antiquated notion. Is it not self-evident? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.251.165.242 (talk) 10:37, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
