Farshid or Farsheed is a Persian name. It is currently used in Iran and the Kurdish regions in Eragh, Turkey and Syria.
This Name is one of the most ancient Persian proper names whose philological background could be traced back even in Old Persian scriptures.
Concerning the etymology of this proper name there exist much more hypothesis and speculations than accurate [Onomastics] etymologizing. Although we clearly could differentiate between two parts of this lexeme. So we have to deal here with a compose form consists from tow morphemes far ( = splendour, shine) + shîd (= sun, sun beams).
In this manner we could translate the Old Persian proper name Farshid/Farsheed as Sunshine or the splendour or the pomp of the sun.
A name which obviously implicate a Zoroastrian Old Persian concept of worshiping of sun and fire as the sacred religious phenomenon.
