Fantasy Batter Value
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Fantasy Batter Value, or FBV, is a baseball statistic - more precisely, a sabermetric measurement of fantasy hitting performance. Fantasy Batter Value was created by Andrew Kneeland in May, 2008. It is intended for use when playing fantasy baseball. Fantasy batter value is a combination of slugging percentage, hits, stolen bases, runs created, and strike out rate. Fantasy batter values have a lower variance than batting average.
In modern Major League Baseball, a fantasy batter value higher than about .300 is considered outstanding, and one below .100 is considered very poor.
The formula is
where
- TB = Total bases
- H = Hits
- SB = Stolen bases
- RCpG = Runs created per game
- AB = At bats
- SO% = Strike out rate (K/AB)
