Fanja (Football club)

Fanja is a Omani football club currently playing in the second division of the Oman Football Association. It has an illustrious history, with seven Omani League championships (1976-77, 1978-79, 1983-84, 1985-88, 1990-91), the second-highest number in Omani history. The club's best years were in the 1970s and the 1980s, but the death of club owner HRH Sayyid Sami adversely affected the club.
Fanja is one of the most popular clubs in the sultanate, with an estimated 30,000 supporters. Its notable players include: *Hamyar bin Neser bin saeed al-ismaeily (awlad el aid)
