[edit] Image Tagging for Image:Mptv_matt.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Mptv_matt.gif. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. [edit] June 2006

Please refrain from adding nonsense to Wikipedia, as you did to Chandler Woodcock. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Metros232 21:18, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Please stop adding advertisements for a political campaign. This is not a place to advertise and campaign. Thanks, Metros232 21:21, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Please do not remove warnings from your page, it is consider vandalism. This is what WP:VANDAL says:

Deleting the comments of other users from article Talk pages, or deleting entire sections thereof, is generally considered vandalism. Removing personal attacks is often considered legitimate, and it is considered acceptable to archive an overly long Talk page to a separate file and then remove the text from the main Talk page. The above does not apply to the user's own Talk page, where users generally are permitted to remove and archive comments at their discretion, except in cases of warnings, which they are generally prohibited from removing, especially where the intention of the removal is to mislead other editors.

Thank you, Metros232 21:29, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

  • This article has been tagged for copyright violations and has been deleted because its not an article. rather, its an advertisement for a political campaign. Wikipedia is not a place for electioneering or advertisement. Please see What Wikipedia is not. I agree with the other editors who have made comments on this page, and therefore will take no action. If this article appears again, it will most likely be deleted. I cannot and will not take action to help you in this regard. Tachyon01 21:32, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] jonah meyerson

So I'm guessing from your talk page that you've tried to upload his image in the past, it's just been deleted for not having the right copyright info on it. Since the image is most likely copyrighted you're going to have to claim fair use. It looks like a publicity photo, so you can add the {{Promophoto}} tag to it. --Bachrach44 21:26, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Finola Hackett.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Finola Hackett.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Finola Hackett

A tag has been placed on Finola Hackett, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be a biographical account about a person, group of people, or band, but it does not indicate how or why he/she/they is/are notable. If you can indicate why Finola Hackett is really notable, I advise you to edit the article promptly, and also put a note on Talk:Finola Hackett. Any admin should check for such edits before deleting the article. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under Articles. You might also want to read our general biography criteria. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. To contest the tagging and request that admins should wait a while for you to assert his/her/their notability, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and then immediately add such an assertion. It is also a very good idea to add citations from reliable sources to ensure that your article will be verifiable. PJM 14:52, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Requests for Adminship

I noticed your edits to WP:RFA. Please note that with ~200 edits to your credit, your experience level will not be deemed as sufficient to be granted adminship. You may wish to review Wikipedia:Guide to requests for adminship. Note that in the last year only three people with less than 1,000 edits have been granted adminship, and the lowest of those had nearly four times as many edits as you. If you have questions about this, I'd be happy to answer. --Durin 23:31, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Matt dallas.JPG

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Matt dallas.JPG. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Note that any unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Also, please provide a detailed fair-use rationale for the photo. Thanks! This image is not a fair-use image. Lack of a copyright symbol does not mean lack of copyright, and there is no fair use doctrine applicable to scraping an photograph off somebody's website. [edit] Unspecified source for Image:Edmundston, newbrunswick.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Edmundston,newbrunswick.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit] Fair use rationale for Image:War at home.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:War at home.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:Kathy_griffin_05.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Kathy_griffin_05.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BigrTex 16:33, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Replaceable fair use Image:Pat_lamarche.jpg

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Pat_lamarche.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BigrTex 20:49, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:FLOOD.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:FLOOD.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 20:33, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
