Family Home Entertainment

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Family Home Entertainment (FHE) is an American home video company, founded in 1981, that releases children's and family-oriented programming, most notably the popular 1980s Marvel/Sunbow television series The Transformers, G.I. Joe, Jem, as well as ThunderCats, the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series, Gumby, The Care Bears, and Bucky O'Hare. It also has a theatrical release division, FHE Pictures, established in 2002; its first release was Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie. FHE was the distributor for most of the seasonal Rankin-Bass TV specials, the others being Vestron Video, Children's Video Library and Lightning Video, three now-defunct home video distributors. The company has also released several VHSs of British kids' cartoons in the US since the 1980s (i.e., Will Quack Quack), as well as some Japanese anime, plus the Australian "Dot" cartoons.

FHE is a division of Artisan Entertainment, which has since been acquired by Lions Gate.
