The Famicom Modem was a device that could be attached to the Famicom/NES Video game system. It gave the user access to a server that provided game cheats, jokes, weather across Japan, and a small amount of downloadable content. It could also be used to make live stock trades. Unlike the NES Teleplay Modem, it did not provide online play.[citation needed]
