Talk:F.O.S.I.

I can assert that FOSI does in fact distribute free, retail software. I do not know, however, if it is an "internet landmark", though I think it would be. 203.59.20.7 10:14, 3 October 2005 (UTC)

There is nothing inaccurate about this very short article on FOSI's site. There are 36 programs there people can download free. They change periodically and are updated regularly. As for the wording, that is accurate as well as far as I can tell. Why not call the website an Internet landmark? A barn can be a landmark to those who live in the area where the barn is and who are familiar with it. The FOSI website is certainly a landmark to some (i.e., of notice or significance, a place that means something to them, etc). The writer or writers do not advocate or condemn the distribution of the software or the website. Perhaps it is time to scrutinize some of the more controversial articles--like those related to historical accounts. After all, history is rewrite all the time to clarify what REALLY happened.

the article seems accurate to me as well. when I found it years ago it looked like it does now except for the banners they have changed over the years but they are still discrete. 203.59.20.7 10:14, 3 October 2005 (UTC)

FOSI is in fact a landmark, due to the consistent nature of its availability and structure. Few websites can boast of such continued patronage while maintaining the same layout and graphics. To those folks at FOSI, thanks and keep up the good work!

Is it appropriate to have a live link to the site from this article? Ace of Risk 20:23, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

No, it's not. Link has been removed. Fat Hobbit 19:57, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
Sure it is; the fosi site itself is not copyrighted; unless linking to sites that link to copyrighted works is against policy? 80.93.173.35 (talk) 08:23, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

I've visited this page since 1997. I've always collected all his software. It's one of the warez sites that you can always feel confident about downloading from. Never any viruses or popups or other problems most warez sites give you. I'm still miffed he's been able to pull it off this long. I assume it's some overseas operation, where the laws don't apply to him. Either way, the site is definitely one I would consider an Internet Landmark and FOSI can crack!

I haven't noticed any new changes since around 2004. Not sure if he is still around or not. As someone else mentiond previous though, you could always count on his software to work and be free of virus'. --StickBoy2 (talk) 01:08, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

there are releases on his page today that are 2006 editions. I don't know exactly when they were added. 80.93.173.35 (talk) 15:14, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
