Description

A McDonnellDouglas F-4B Phantom II (BuNo 153027) of fighter squadron VF-51 Screaming Eagles aboard the aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea (CVA-43) in 1973. VF-51 was assigned to Attack Carrier Air Wing Fifeteen (CVW-15). Note the silhouette of a MiG-17 on the air intake, stating a "kill". Lt. Dennis H. Wisely and Lt.(JG) Gareth Anderson shot down a MiG-17 with this aircraft on 24 April 1967 (as NH-114). They were assigned to VF-114 Aardvarks, CVW-11, on the USS Kitty Hawk (CVA-63). The aircraft was retired to the MASDC as 8F0142 on 17 November 1983.
