EZcode

A EZcode is a matrix code (or two-dimensional bar code) created by ETH Zurich and licensed by Scanbuy.

Scanner software for the EZcode is available from Scanlife for some Windows mobile, Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Blackberry, Samsung, Motorola, Sanyo, Palm Treo and LG Electronics mobiles. The software works by uploading a picture taken with the phones camera to a web server that intern decodes the EZcode and sends the content back to the phone, this makes the decoder dependent on an active Internet connection even for scanning contact info.
